Researcher Development Seminars
Researcher Development Seminar on Wednesday 7th February, 11:00 – 12:00 on Zoom
Catalysing change: journeying from researcher to Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
This Researcher Development Seminar is a conversation with Dr Sarah Mohammad-Qureshi, on how issues of equality, diversity and inclusion affect us all… and what we can each do to foster positive research culture. Drawing on her personal and professional journey, Sarah will discuss ways discrimination and ignorance affect researchers, and the work being done to counter this to unlock the full potential of all in the research community.
Sarah completed her PhD in biochemistry at UoM in 2004, then worked here as a research scientist for 11 years. She’s worked in university-level positions to promote equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) for over eight years, both at UoM and the University of Law where she is now Head of EDI. Sarah received the Northern Power Women Award in 2022, and is an active volunteer in several organisations working for social change, also being a Trustee for GM4Women2028 and Pave The Way.
We are delighted to have Dr Sarah Mohammad-Qureshi as our guest, and hope you’ll enjoy her candour, energy and enthusiasm. From the small-scale to the big picture, we hope this seminar will leave you more informed and inspired with practical steps to build a positive research culture for all.
